About the Platteville Municipal
Auditorium |
|
|
The current group, Platteville Community
Theatre (or PCT), began in 1980. Robert Schlicher, who had moved to
Platteville from Beaver Dam, suggested that Platteville develop a
similar community theatre group to utilize the stage at the Platteville
Municipal Building with its historical ties to the city. The company
originally started as a group of ten. Platteville Municipal Auditorium was chosen as the venue for the 2003 Wisconsin Association of Community Theatre (WACT) Competition, hosted by the Platteville Community Theatre. Wisconsin Association of Community Theatre is a not-for-profit group dedicated to enhancing and encouraging the theatre arts in Wisconsin. WACT sponsors the beginning level of competition for amateur theatre groups through the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) program known as AACT/Fest. A record number of ten plays were presented during the festival.
Other entities who have used the Municipal
Auditorium are home schoolers, churches, Oasis, D.A.R.E. graduation
